President’s Message
On behalf of the membership of NHAPL I would like to welcome everyone back from your summer activities and hope that all of you spent quality time with friends, family and loved ones. I also want to give you a brief overview of what I hope to accomplish as your President this year.
I would like to start off my letter by thanking Cynthia Hardin for her hard work, leadership and guidance serving as our President last year. I believe that through her hard work and leadership, NHAPL had a successful year upgrading our website, increasing membership and providing excellent seminars and social events. Thank you Cynthia for your service to NHAPL.
It is an honor and privilege to serve as your president. I enter this year humbled by your confidence in me and promise to lead this fine organization with the best of my abilities. My top priority is to serve the members of NHAPL. I will do everything in my power to treat the office with the respect and dignity it deserves.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the incoming board members and officers who will serve NHAPL. I will not take time to name them in this letter as they are listed on the website, but please take time to thank them when you have the opportunity. Serving on a professional organization board is a thankless job. It is one that takes countless hours of meetings, planning and volunteering to insure the membership experience is enjoyable, educational and eventful.
As you will see on the website, Glen Mauldin, your Vice President, has already lined up speakers for our fall luncheons/meetings and they promise to be informative and educational while dealing with timely issues affecting the land profession.
We also have the Welcome Back Social in September, the Members Only golf tournament in October to be played again this year at Augusta Pines. Our annual Half Day Seminar is taking shape and we plan to once again host the NHAPL Night at the Ball Park on the roof at Union Station which I believe was one of our most popular social events of the year.
It is my hope to update the association’s by laws to incorporate wording for website use and maintenance and to bring our effective dates of officer elections and dues renewals more in line with the national organization. Another idea we are pursuing is the utilization of Pay Pal as a service and convenience to the membership when registering for events. All in all, I am looking forward to a great year and I implore all of the past members who have let their NHAPL membership lapse to reconsider joining the association. The meetings are conveniently located at the Greenspoint Club, it provides and easy and convenient forum to obtain continuing education credits, it is inexpensive and above all, it is a great way to network with both new and experienced landmen in the industry. It is my belief, that a professional landman’s strength is only as good as the strength of his network. I am looking forward with great anticipation to getting the year underway and hope to see each of you at our next luncheon.
Sincerely, Randy HelmsNHAPL President |
